SCHAUENBURG International is socially and sustainably committed on an international basis.
The companies of the Schauenburg International Group not only show the utmost sensitivity in their use of resources, but also assume social and ecological responsibility in addition to economic responsibility.
The Schauenburg International Group has been following this motto for several decades. Long-term social commitment is one of the Schauenburg family’s core values. The Schauenburg Foundation, for example, has been demonstrating this self-image since 1986: it supports international projects in science and education, with a particular focus on promoting young talent.
Sustainability in the sense of company founder Hans-Georg Schauenburg means more: “It’s all on loan”. As a family business, we live these values in all our entrepreneurial activities.
Our aim is to optimize our actions, our products and services in terms of sustainability and to ensure our contribution to a future worth living for generations to come. These values are directly reflected in the selection of topics that are important to us.
Our sustainability strategy is based on the international standards of the European Union and the United Nations. On this basis, we define material topics that are important to us and our stakeholders because they can have a significant impact on the company’s value creation in the short, medium and long term.
We act: our environmental approach
Our goal is to reduce our carbon footprint. As a supplier, we enable our customers to create a sustainable value chain. We support the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement and aim to achieve carbon neutrality in the Group’s key areas as quickly as possible. We will achieve this by making our production processes as resource-efficient as possible, designing products for a very long service life and increasing the overall recycling of products and product parts. We use energy and water as sparingly as possible and take care to reduce waste from production and transportation as much as possible.
We care: our social approach
We are aware that our employees, not our products, are our greatest asset. We are committed to respecting human rights in accordance with the Convention on Human Rights, the principles of the UN Global Compact and the International Labor Organization (ILO). Our goal as a holding company is to emphasize not only the commitment of our subsidiaries, but also our own initiatives for social responsibility and sustainability. For us, good labor practices are guidelines and measures that ensure fair, safe and non-discriminatory working conditions. They are essential for protecting the rights of employees and promoting a positive and productive working environment. These activities reflect our shared commitment to supporting the community, promoting employee wellbeing and contributing to overall social sustainability.
We lead: Business Conduct
We strengthen a culture of transparency and strive to ensure cyber security. Corporate governance is the backbone of our well-functioning and ethical business environment. Compliance with the United Nations Convention against Corruption is a matter of course for us. It is important to us to support and promote our portfolio companies in the long term so that we can continue to offer our employees a secure workplace in the future: Our decisions are always ethically justifiable and value-oriented, because we think in terms of generations, take responsibility for our actions and treat our business partners as equals. Even if there are challenges, adhering to the principles of accountability, transparency, fairness, responsibility and independence helps us to overcome these difficulties and be successful in the long term.
