To ensure that inquisitive children from Mülheim and the surrounding area can continue to attend the diverse courses of the Junior-Uni Ruhr, the Schauenburg Foundation and the Schauenburg Group continue to support the private institution on a long-term basis, including financially. These funds will be used to finance the equipment of a new location of the Junior-Uni Ruhr. The move to a new building is urgently needed due to the enormous development of the Junior-Uni Ruhr: In the last two years, the demand for the offer has grown exponentially – from 84 children in 9 courses at the start in mid-2020, now more than 1300 children participated in 319 events this year. At the same time, there are still over 180 children on the waiting list.

This shows that the concept of the Junior-Uni Ruhr is working. “We have made it our mission to make the variety of professions and opportunities tangible and tangible. The range of courses on offer is as diverse as the so-called “students” themselves, who are between the ages of 4 and 17 – which is not unheard of, because the courses are often created at the request of the children. At Druck dir was!, 3D printers are explained and tried out. We also offer exciting courses in art, biology, the environment and technology. In the current winter semester, for example, children from 7 to 10 can learn how to build a weather station or what attraction actually is,” reports Anke Hötzel, who is responsible for planning and setting up the courses at the Junior University Ruhr. “Our courses are limited to a maximum of 10 students so that everyone has the opportunity to ask their questions and be seen,” adds the former mayor of the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr and honorary executive director Dagmar Mühlenfeld.

The project, which has since been awarded the status of a “zdi student lab” by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, is financed exclusively by grants and donations. “We are proud to be able to support such a committed institution,” says a delighted Florian G. Schauenburg, Managing Director of Schauenburg International. “For us, it is essential to support interested children in a wide range of areas and thus ensure the future viability of our society.”
